Gamma Alpha Upsilon Zeta was chartered during the sorority’s Centennial year in the fall of 2020 in Crestview, Florida, which is also affectionately known as “Christ-view” to some, to service the North Okaloosa County communities. Zeta Phi Beta’s founding principle of scholarship is anchored in the sorority’s commitment to academic excellence. The Gamma Alpha Upsilon Zeta (GAUZ) chapter awards multiple scholarships annually to deserving students in North Okaloosa and Walton County. These scholarships not only provide financial resources but serve as a catalyst for developing and cultivation future leaders.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority would be remiss not to pay homage to the first women who believed in the need for a new and different type of Greek-lettered organization and acted upon that need. To these women, Zeta was more than an organization-it was a movement, a belief system that reflected, at its core, the desire to provide true Service, to embrace Scholarship, to set a standard for Sisterly Love and to define the noble concept of Finer Womanhood. This belief has sustained and encouraged Zetas around the world to hold fast to the ideals initiated and developed by its earliest members.

This form of breast cancer is more aggressive and often labeled more difficult to treat. It has also been found to occur disproportionately in young African American women. Founded on January 16, 1920, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was born out of the simple belief that sorority elitism should not overshadow the real mission for progressive organizations to address societal ills, prejudices, poverty, and health concerns of the day. Zeta began as an idea conceived by five coeds at Howard University in Washington D.C., predicated on the precepts of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood. Today, these ideals are reflected in each member’s desire to engage the underrepresented, serve where they are most needed, and advocate for change.
